How to Audition for the Studio
LSU processes all admissions and sets up all auditions for degree programs. Complete information is available at https://www.lsu.edu/cmda/music/admissions.
GRADS: Submit your audition video (for grads) by the November deadline, or as soon as possible thereafter. In advance of your audition, contact us for a trial lesson (usually on Friday, or at the end of the day on Saturday). If the audition dates do not work for your schedule, it is sometimes possible to audition mid-day on Tuesdays. For full consideration of financial assistance it is advantageous to audition not later than mid-February.
UNDERGRADS: Undergraduates who wish to be considered for admission to this studio should submit video links directly to graysongrovesstudio@gmail.com
Trial Lesson Expectations
At the trial lesson please bring several pieces (with legible piano copies) which you are prepared to sing (classical only). Standard repertory pieces are advisable so the focus can be on evaluating your voice (not on sight-reading piano scores).
GRADS: Bring two contrasting opera arias and two art songs. Slower moving, more sustained repertoire tells us more about your talent. Provide a copy of your repertoire from your Bachelor's degree, and a copy of your performance resume.
UNDERGRADS: Bring two contrasting classical pieces. Slower moving, more sustained repertoire tells us more about your talent.
